Pre-Writing Assignment #2
I think globalization doesn't necessarily threaten the cultural rights and identities of less powerful countries because no one is forced to use technology or any kind of advanced technology available today. Instead it gives millions of people the option to use it. Yet, so many of them refuse to use it because either they don't need it or they simply just live simple lives and can live without any use of technology. Many people that live in the less powerful countries were most likely raised without any use of technology which is probably why it doesn't matter to them if they have it or not. They've been brought up that certain way that it doesnt phase them. But on the other hand for many of us in the United States, we were raised a whole different way where technology and hand held devices were around us every single day that we got adapted to it so quickly. So quickly that it became a part of our lives. Not only did it become a part of our lives but no longer was it a accessory but a necessity to have with us everywhere we go. Technology has advanced so fast over the years that almost all of us rely on it everyday whether its our cell phones, touch phones, computers, laptops, radios, internet, GPS systyem, and the list goes on. Many of us have adapted to it so much that rarely can you find us without them. I'm sure many of us can't go a single minute or even a single day day without them and thats whats kind of scary. If you think back to how people lived their lives thousands and thousands of years ago , technology was barely ever created or let alone used. Everything needed to be physically done. For example, we went from writing essays and turning it in physically to typing essays and sending it through via email. Another example is how our cellphones today is a very big important part of communication. We use our cellphones today to contact important people and even through texting and I can't even imagine how people contacted each other back then without the use of cellphones and they survived. If people who choose to live without technology don't bother trying to use devices or any use of technology, then I think that we should respect their decisions and not force them to do anything they don't want to. Yes, maybe if they learned about the technology use, life would be somewhat easier on their part but if they were raised and grew up living without use of technology back then, then I'm sure they can survive without them NOW and it won't be any problem.
